My Experience As a New Trustee
Jay Virgo - My experience as a new Trustee
My experience as Trustee for MK Community Foundation began early this year, and I can hand on heart say that in such a short span of time I have met some of the most courageous, inspiring and innovative individual's I have ever crossed paths with.
I am encouraged to be daring, upskilled by my fellow board members and colleagues, and astounded by the positive impact the organisation has on our local community.
My insights and skills are valued, and that’s just the best feeling.
What lead me to apply
I was inspired to apply for the position of Trustee through not only the sheer merit of the organisation, and its core values that align with my own, but through the personal experience of seeing the impact the Community Foundation grants have on charities in the local area.
Philanthropy is the future of community sustainability, and by investing in organisations such as Community Foundation, we can impact generations to come.
One of the most inspiring works by the organisation that really hooked me into applying for the role, was the Vital Signs report.
Vital Signs is an annual publication designed to identify and spotlight issues facing the communities of Milton Keynes.
This year's copy covered an important topic close to my heart, Pride. If you haven’t read it yet, I strongly encourage you to do so!
