Grant creates support network for Hong Kong families relocating to Milton Keynes

Who are Milton Keynes Chinese Christian Church and what do they do?
Milton Keynes Chinese Christian Church (MKCCC) is a non-denominational independent church. Their mission is simply to provide a place for people in the community to come together, knowing they share the same beliefs and have similar values. They hold regular activities and events to bring the members of the church together.
What support did Milton Keynes Chinese Christian Church need?
Moving to a different country is a difficult and a very isolating experience. The church wanted to be able to provide 100 welcome gift packs of basic grocery essentials to new families from Hong Kong to make the experience a happy one. Through the gifting of packs, they wanted to not only provide basic necessities, but also create an opportunity to speak and welcome all the new families into the MK community.
What difference did our MK Community Foundation grant make?
The families were overjoyed with the packs and they got to familiarise with the society of MK and be welcomed into the big family. We were able to create a sense togetherness between the new and local people and show them how special MK is as a community. During the pandemic we learnt how blessed we are to be able to help our community and to give back to them.

Our mission is to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those who live in our community by funding life changing projects across the city. Over the past 35 years, the Community Foundation have supported Milton Keynes charities with over £18m in rent subsidies and £15m in grant programmes. In 2021, we awarded £1.6m in grants to help local charitable organisations to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
