Community Fund Drives Change with Eco-Food Distribution Network

Who are the Hubbub Foundation and what do they do?
Hubbub Foundation have long been committed to working with diverse communities, running campaigns and projects aimed at tackling social and environmental issues.
One of their many projects includes the Community Fridge Network, which operates to reduce waste and makes fresh food available to communities when they need it.
Everyone is welcome to collect food from Community Fridges, regardless of financial circumstances, effectively reducing any associated stigma around receiving free food.
What support did Hubbub Foundation need?
Hubbub wanted to launch Food Connect, a low carbon transport system that redistributes surplus food to people who are shielding or vulnerable.
The food redistribution service is powered through the use of zero emissions vehicles run by Hubbub, using e-cargo bikes and e-vans to share surplus food from local businesses within the community of Milton Keynes.
Their Community Grant helped them to build a network of couriers needed in order to make the project a success.

What difference did our MK Community Foundation grant make?
Food Connect brought huge benefits to the community of Milton Keynes, including 213 tonnes of food being saved from rediverted waste, 22,653 miles of zero-emission travel and 9 community organisations regularly benefiting from the food delivery service every week.
At the same time, Hubbub realised the deeper impact of working collaboratively and supporting community organisations to source surplus food.
As a result, they could focus their time and resources on their visitors, volunteers and activities rather than using time to collect food.
