September Spectacular

What is September Spectacular?

Every year, we carry out two match fund challenges helping the donations your charity receives to have double the impact.

Your organisation could have up to £500 in donations matched, or £1,000 if you are working to support people with disabilities or mental health problems.

Starts: Monday 18th September at 10am

Ends: Friday 29th September at 12pm, or whenever the pot runs out - whichever comes first!

How do we take part?

Step 1 - Register with Localgiving:

    • Join Localgiving, an online fundraising platform where individuals can contribute to your organisation.

    • Only donations made through Localgiving will qualify for matching.

If you're new to Localgiving, we will cover the cost of your first year's membership (usually £96). Please contact us to receive the promo code.

Ensure you register with Localgiving well in advance to ensure your profile is active before the challenge commences.

Step 2 - Complete the Registration Form:

  • To participate in the challenge, it is mandatory to fill out the registration form.

  • Forms must be submitted by 12 pm on Wednesday, 13th September 2023.

Step 3 - Review the September Spectacular 2023 Terms & Conditions:

What Funding is Available?

We're thrilled to offer not one, but two incredible funding opportunities, each with a generous £10,000 allocation:

  1. Community Fund Pot - Access up to £500:

    • This pot is open to all registered groups.

    • It's unrestricted, meaning your organisation can use it for any purpose you deem fit.

  2. Margaret Powell Fund Pot - Unlock an Additional £500:

    • Your organisation may qualify for an extra £500 from the Margaret Powell Fund Pot if you meet the following criteria:
      • Dedicated to supporting voluntary and community groups.
      • Focused on projects that:
        • Enhance the well-being of frail elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities, regardless of their age.
        • Provide assistance to individuals of all ages facing mental health challenges.

You don't need to exclusively focus on these issues to benefit from the Margaret Powell Fund Pot. As long as you plan to allocate your match funding to initiatives that address these concerns, such as involving older individuals more actively in your group or improving accessibility.

Promotion

The match fund pots often run out quite quickly, so it’s important that you promote the challenge to your supporters and urge them to donate as soon as the clock strikes 10am on 18th September.

To do this you could:

    • Send an email to your supporters about September Spectacular by letting them know that their donations could be doubled

    • Social media campaign – we will send you some graphics to use to let your followers know you’re taking part. You could do a countdown to the start of the challenge.

How do you know how much to match?

We get sent a report each morning from Localgiving of the previous day’s donations, which gets entered into a spreadsheet to calculate how much each group has been matched.

We then update the website with the amount remaining in each match fund pot.

As it’s us matching the donations and not Localgiving, the amount matched won’t be visible in your account.
