Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes

November to March are the coldest months of the year, making homelessness even more life- threatening and frightening. Providing emergency overnight shelter and hot meals is how Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes have always provided much needed relief when it’s really needed. But the pandemic has meant their normal services have been restricted, adding a new layer of isolation that’s unimaginable to the vulnerable people living on our streets.

Warmth and safety are a basic privilege that Winter Night Shelter support staff never take for granted. To continue their mission to help and support the humans in our community that need it most, they wanted to provide emergency Winter Survival Kits to those with no option but to sleep rough. Knowing that longer-term support could take 10 long, freezing nights, Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes needed to fund these life-saving kits.

Some Survival Kit essentials were harder to source through donations, so the grant was fundamental in getting the items that made all the difference. Thermal sleeping bags have stopped people dying from the effects of freezing conditions. Pre-paid mobile phones have been a godsend when people have been in trouble. Overnight hotel rooms have provided solace in emergency situations that otherwise would have ended very differently.

Our mission is to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those who live in our community.
