Milton Keynes Youth Music Fund

Grants for group music projects for under-21s across Milton Keynes.

Everything you need to know before applying

The Milton Keynes Youth Music Fund pays for music projects that help young people build confidence, friendships and skills by making music together, rather than on their own.

Before committing to an application, please make sure that your organisation and project are eligible for funding and that you have read our grants policy in full.

Grant size: up to £1,500

Who can apply?

Groups and organisations that support young people through music can apply, provided your project:

  • be open to anyone who wants to take part, rather than a select few
  • involve young people aged under 21, who must make up at least 90% of those taking part
  • bring people together to make music in any genre or style, whether that's a choir, a band, a production project or something else entirely (this fund doesn't cover dance)
  • centre on group participation, since the fund seeks to support shared experiences rather than individual lessons or training

We can accept applications from constituted, not-for-profit organisations supporting beneficiaries from Milton Keynes:

  • Unincorporated associations
  • Registered charities
  • Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs)
  • Sports clubs
  • Faith groups - where the primary project activity is community-focussed and not for the promotion of religion. beneficiaries must not be required to take part in religious activities, and no individual may be excluded from benefiting on the grounds of faith, religion or lack of belief.

What type of projects can it support?

Sapling Grants can support a range of projects and activities. We encourage applications that respond to issues raised in our annual Vital Signs MK report, address local needs, work in partnership, and aim to strengthen the voluntary sector.

You'll be asked to upload a signed constitution or governing document, a list of at least three unrelated members responsible for your governance, your most recent annual accounts (a bank statement will do if your organisation is under a year old), a recent bank statement, an Equal Opportunities policy, and a Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy. You can save your progress in the portal and come back to it before the deadline.

How do I start the application?
