We're looking for an innovative café proposal

The offer - A community café at the heart of Milton Keynes.

The Cafe has many benefits including

  • A great location - situated at the heart of the business district in Central Milton Keynes on Midsummer Boulevard opposite the Central Business Exchange and next to The Fred Roche Gardens. The café opens out onto a busy pedestrian area on the main route between the station and the centre:mk. Excellent footfall (thousands of people every month).
  • The right space - café area/space is approx. 776sq ft and can host approximately 40 covers.
  • In-house customers - Acorn House and Margaret Powell House is the home to over 60 business and community organisations with over 300 tenant employees.
  • Catering opportunities - Margaret Powell House is the home of our conferences and meeting rooms, the right proposal will have the opportunity to provide food and drinks to our conference attendees.

We invite proposals to: 

  • Utilise the café and ground floor area within Acorn House.
  • Animate the space for community and cultural activities and group usage.
  • Create an open and friendly space that provides both tenants and members of the public an area that serves good quality food at a reasonable price.
  • Create a social enterprise or business that will a create a positive impact in Milton Keynes.
  • Extend the operation hours for the ground floor area to early in the morning, later into the evenings and throughout the weekend.
  • Raise awareness of Milton Keynes Community Foundation and the work it supports across the city.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal follow these steps

Step one 

Arrange a pre-proposal visit to see the space and ask any questions that you may have. Please contact Kelly Wilson Kelly.Wilson@mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk or call 01908 200250 to arrange a convenient time. 

Step two

Submit your proposal (no more than 10 A4 pages) to Kelly Wilson - Kelly.Wilson@mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk by Friday 13th July at 5 pm. Please make sure you include:

  • Your USP (Unique Selling Point)
  • Trade references where applicable
  • Previous experience
  • Staffing arrangements/rotas
  • Proposed opening times/days
  • Community benefit ideas
  • Menu/price range
  • Rent offer/profit share (we are interested in some creative solutions here)
  • Contact information/details

Step three

If you are shortlisted you will be invited to present your proposal in the week commencing 30th July 2018.
