A global day of giving

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday (29th November 2016) is a global day of giving. After the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to come together and give something back.

2016 is the third year that local businesses and members of the public will come together to support us and our community. This year our #GivingTuesday campaign will raise funds and awareness of the 1 in 5 children in Milton Keynes who are living below the poverty line*.

1 in 5 Children in MK living below the poverty line

MK Community Foundation will use all donations to make grants to projects that are tackling the effects of child poverty in Milton Keynes. The wellbeing of a child's early years has a significant impact on their long-term education, job prospects and health. With Milton Keynes thriving, we believe it's important to do all we can to ensure our most vulnerable children are not left behind.

Well done Shoosmiths for winning the #GivingTuesday Cup!

We had a brilliant #givingtueday and raised £2797 on the day that will feed into our 1 in 5 Fund. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to iFLY (formally Airkix), Ellis Brigham Trek and Climb for hosting the fastest ascent challenge, Snozone for providing our toboggan race, Nuffield Gym for inspiring our teams to row across the channel, MK Dons for their gruelling football challenge, Bounce MK for their epic dodge a ball session, MK College students and staff for running the boot camp challenge and Revolution de Cuba for their fantastic hospitality including our salsa dance lesson!

We would also like to thank our fantastic volunteers from Volkswagen UK who worked throughout the day to support our event.

Our Corporate Teams worked really hard throughout the day, demonstrating both their physical prowess and their amazing fundraising talents. Shoosmiths were top of the fundraising leader board at the 5 o'clock deadline raising £620! The Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes joined us at Revolution de Cuba to award the #GivingTuesday Cup to the Shoosmiths Graduate team who also won many of the mini-challenges throughout the day. Well Done!
